VA Software Offers Free Version of SourceForge Enterprise Edition

VA Software announced last week the availability of a free, full-feature version of its collaborative software development platform, SourceForge Enterprise Edition (SFEE).

The download includes a perpetual, no-cost license for 15 users, and is available at vasoftware.com.

Developers in Mind

Built on the Java 2 Enterprise Edition J2EE platform, SFEE provides developers with scalability, reliability and robust features with enterprise-class products in mind. In developing SFEE, VA Software said it aimed to leverage its understanding of software development processes gained from operating SourceForge.net, an open source community development site with participation from more than 1.3 million developers over more than 121,000 projects.

“With SFEE we have a compelling platform for collaboration,” said Michael J. Sikorsky, CEO of Cambrian House. “Our developers are spread all over the world, and SourceForge allows us to bring them all together under one roof so they can ultimately be more effective.

“SFEE gives developers the flexibility to work how they want while the real-time activity tracking and project monitoring capabilities provide managers and other team members with the transparency they need to stay informed of project status. SourceForge has enabled us to develop software and bring products to market at fierce speed.”

Optimized for Enterprise Environment

SFEE is optimized for the enterprise environment with features such as LDAP and Wiki integration, workflow tracking capabilities, role-based access controls and support for multiple software configuration management tools. With SFEE, development teams of any size can work effectively to deliver higher-quality products more rapidly, VA Software said.

“No other vendor of collaborative development software on the market today offers such an easy option for evaluation and testing,” said Liz Barnett, principal analyst at EZ Insight. “VA is offering developers and development managers a no-risk, no-commitment option for evaluating its highly productive toolset. Development teams should take advantage of the download at the start of their next project and experience the benefits of SFEE firsthand.”
